I have had so many things going on since I last posted. The BEST thing that has happened to me is that I am now a grandmother! I'm not sure how I got old enough to have a grandchild but here I am and I am madly in love with her. I have also never been more proud of my daughter! I never had doubts about what kind of mother she would be, but seeing how fantastic she is makes me tear up constantly. I love her so much. I thought nothing would compare to the 1st time I held her but seeing her hold her daughter for the first time was the happiest moment in my entire life. I remember what it was like holding her right after she was born and seeing that look of perfect peace and JOY on her face was almost too much for my heart to bear. So many times in the last 6 months I have been so overwhelmed with love I thought my heart would actually burst.

I have new toys and new projects! My husband got me a Mighty Fast Herbal Infuser for Christmas and I have been having a lot of fun infusing herbal oils. No pot-sorry! After all these years I am always afraid I won't have any new innovations, but it hasn't happened yet. The joys of working with botanicals is that the possibilities are truly endless!

I have taken something of a step back from my store to focus more on my family through the holidays but will be busy with more experiments and stuff through the winter. Today I am making a ton of cold creams, resting and planning out ideas for new products.

I have fallen in love with lotion bars for my hands lately but they do have drawbacks. It takes a lot of beeswax to firm them up and that can be pretty heavy on the skin. This has been a blessing for my hands and feet but it's a bit much elsewhere on the body. So I am working on herbal body balms that aren't quite as firm and can be easily packaged in tins. I made some balms today loaded with CO2's that are high in essential fatty acids to help with my splitting nails. I am also playing around with some new carrier oils: acai berry, chia seed and mid-chain trigycerides. I am also working on botanical perfumes and body sprays using herbal extracts, essential oils and hydrosols that I'm really excited about.

Starting today I will be moderating all comments on my blog. I will still be posting (and responding to) comments from people who disagree with me, I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is a jerk company from India using my blog to promote their business. This is NOT cool and will NOT be allowed! You know who you are, and I have no doubt you are reading this. If your products are so fantastic you shouldn't need to spam my blog to promote your business without my permission. You have not once had the decency to contact me so you are blocked until Hell freezes over.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-65480502302022226002016-04-10T19:56:00.001-04:002016-04-10T19:56:34.728-04:00Mother's Day GiveawayI have teamed up with Gretchen again this year for our annual Mother's Day giveaway. I have a huge stash of materials that I could offer up for sale including herbs, essential oils, absolutes and CO2 extractions and infused alcohols that are already to go. I have read so much bad information on natural perfumery from buying cheap little booklets of amazon that I think I need to write my own book. And I may actually do that! It's so much fun and very challenging to make your own perfumes, yet it so overwhelming at the same time. It's a lot to think about and I really have A LOT on my plate right now! My husband has had knee replacement surgery and my I have my 1st grandchild on the way. Then there is the day job................on the bright side I have managed to finally detach myself from the stress of the job because I have more important things to deal with in my life. More important things where my contribution and time actually mean something to the people I give to. And my greatest fan-my dog. She is far more pleasant and intelligent than some of the humans I deal with on a daily basis.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-84633126926566052015-10-20T06:05:00.001-04:002015-10-20T06:05:31.829-04:00Fads, Propoganda and the Rape of the EnvironmentIt's hard to know where to start with this one. What has set this off is that I can't find the usual species of Frankincense tears anymore after we just had a massive shortage of Blue Tansy essential oil last year. The plants are going away, largely because ill informed people are abusing essential oils.

Frankincense essential oil has been overused because of the belief that it fights cancer. Any cancer killing abilities that have been scientifically proven are from extracts of the whole herb in a petri dish, specifically boswellic acid, which is not present in the essential oil. This belief is still wide spread among MLM sales reps who only get their information from the company they sell for and are STRONGLY discouraged from getting information outside of the company. The result is thousands of people drinking Frankincense essential oil believing it will prevent or cure cancer, widespread hysteria and more and more Frankincense being distilled and the trees being stressed to the brink.

The same said company uses WAY too much Blue Tansy essential oil in there blends. It's a nice oil but very powerful and also a high ketone oil, which should be used with caution. The result there-a massive world wide shortage last year, still a shortage this year and the same said company had to remake a couple of their blends so they could keep the money rolling in.

Even worse is the copy cats. The company Melaleuca decided to jump on the essential oil bandwagon in the middle of the worldwide Blue Tansy shortage. They have their knock off blends but since there was no Blue Tansy on the market they decided to just substitute with Tansy instead. It's painfully obvious they don't have anyone with even ten seconds of aromatherapy training on staff or they would know that Tansy is EXTREMELY TOXIC AND HAS NO USE IN THERAPY. NONE.

There's a new MLM company popping up, or a wannabe, at least called Miracle Oils. All of their blends are $13.95 for 15 ml and if you look at the ingredients they list aromatic chemicals. Now even if they are naturally derived you could hardly call these pure essential oils and at best, they are taking the lazy way out to get certain components in their oils. Given the price they are most likely just using chemicals.

Essential oils are wonderful but they are NOT concentrated herbs. They are the concentrated volatile oils from the plant and heavier elements don't get carried over in the distillation process. So much plant material is needed to get such a small component out and the rest is pretty much just thrown away-what a waste. I'm not saying not to use essential oils because I definitely do myself. I'm saying to respect the plants and recognize that the essential oils are very limited in what they can do. the whole herb has so much more to offer especially when you consider that only about 5% of all plants even contain an essential oil. Even if some oils do kill cancer cells you are going to shut down vital organs in the process of "curing" yourself.

I see people who will only use essential oils and people who will only use infused oils who declare "I never use essential oils". I find both of these ridiculous. If you are using infused oils some of what is carried over into your infusion is the essential oil. So you may be using it highly diluted but you're using the essential oil. As for ONLY using essential oils-you are bombarding your body with extremely concentrated chemicals, which is not healthy and you are cutting yourself off from 95% of the healing plants in the world. Not to mention that your are contributing to the complete destruction of the 5% that do contain essential oils.

Just some food for thought.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-11205111526720276382015-06-24T19:47:00.001-04:002015-06-24T19:47:18.973-04:00Missing Your Blends?I know because of the Blue Tansy shortage some Young Living blends aren't available. Since I do have Blue Tansy, which has been tested and verified to be pure and true, I have some of my versions of these blends available.
Used YL peace and calm on my son who has some anxiety and insomnia. They're always sold out. This blend is exactly the same, better priced and works just as well. Will definitely be ordering again. Very fast shipping! Thank you!
I decided to get some more this weekend so I could fill my half gallon jug and (hopefully) remain in stock until next years harvest. Then I decided to run my clary sage, which will take 2 runs to distill what I cut down. But it's lower yield so it won't take all night like 2 runs of elder would have. Trust me-I was distilling ALL DAY last Sunday. It comes with the territory when you're running an herbal business. You have to do things when the plants are ready and not when you feel like it. Needless to say, June is a super busy month for me. And I haven't even done the lemon balm and my roman chamomile is on the verge of blooming. But while I was out there I noticed I had several roses in bloom so I was inspired to run a special distillation (and a very small one, at that). It's a surprise!

I have struggled with my clary sage after 2 very brutal winters here. I barely had any last year and this year looks like I'll get about of hydrolate. It kills me now when I think of years past when I pulled up stray plants all over the place and got rid of them. I know I'll have one flowering plant next year and I will put in a bunch more. I let my one plants flower so it would drop seeds, so if this winter is closer to normal I should have plenty more generations of plants in the years to come.

And I have helichrysum plants flowering. I won't get much off them this year but, again, if the next winter isn't too cold they'll have a chance to get nice and big next summer and give me plenty of flowers. And I have re-established St. John's wort again this year thanks to a dear friend who dug up a wild plant and sent it to me. I also have seedlings growing and I may keep some of those babies inside this winter. The same dear friend also sent me some of her oil so I have some to keep my business running. It's tough to remain self sufficient when the weather goes crazy, but it's time for things to settle down to normal this year with light snowfalls, moderately cold temperatures and one ice storm in January.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-65086135650743649892015-06-14T08:30:00.000-04:002015-06-14T08:31:12.705-04:00YES I get Angry! If you think I sound angry, yes I do get angry. I am frustrated that so many people, no matter how well meaning they may be, that don't analyze information they are given. Gary Young's own account of how he went from a crippling accident to becoming an ND doesn't add up but people just take him at his word. By his own account he hadn't completed a High School education, had an accident that left him in a wheelchair, suffered years of depression, spent years searching for a "cure" for his condition before discovering essential oils. Then BAM 8 years later he completes his studies to become an ND. This is a LIE. An ND is a Naturopathic DOCTOR, that is a medically trained physician who uses natural remedies as well as pharmaceuticals. This requires completing medical school and residency, which requires an undergraduate degree first. Undergraduate degree-4 years. Medical School-4 years. Residency-2 years. So you see, his timeline doesn't add up.

He takes a trip to Africa and is photographed with a few people and photographed looking at Frankincense trees. His spin on the story is that the Sultan was SO impressed with him that he gave him exclusive rights to harvest the resin. Any contradictory information from the Sultan himself is squelched so he finally opens up his own website and posts a video telling what really happened and that their opinion of Gary Young is much less than what Young himself conveyed. LIES!

I have no doubt that he is a very Charismatic man, otherwise his devotees wouldn't hang on his every word so. But Adolf Hitler was also a very charismatic man. Jim Jones was a very charismatic man.

Lets look at some of the "tests" some of these reps put out there to "prove" the actions of the oils. There is the famous pouring lemon essential oil on Styrofoam to prove how YL lemon oils dissolves the petrochemicals out of the human body. This is yet another example of spinning information to your own ends. ALL essential oils will eat Styrofoam. Why? Because they are all solvents, that's why. They will also eat through mucous membranes in the human body. You know what else will eat through Styrofoam? Gasoline, a petrochemical. I've seen it with my own eyes when some idiot tried to fill a Styrofoam cooler with gas instead of buying a real gas can.

I have also seen a rep fill 2 veggie capsules with 2 brands of peppermint oil and freeze them (one was YL and one was another brand). What she was TRYING to prove was that YL was superior because it was still liquid after 20 minutes in the freezer and the other oil was solid. What she ACTUALLY managed to prove to anyone who has actual training with essential oils is that the YL oil is in fact an INFERIOR oil. One of the main constituents in any good quality peppermint oil is menthol, which forms crystals when frozen. Does anyone know where menthol crystals come from? I do. It comes from cornmint, Mentha arvenis, which has a menthol content so high that crystals sometimes form on the leaves of the plant. The cornmint is distilled and the essential oil is frozen, which causes the menthol to crystalize and then it's skimmed of the top of the frozen oil.

So, yes, I do understand how essential oils are made. I also understand that they are chemicals and how these chemicals act in the human body. I also understand that they are not magic and can explain scientifically how they work. And I understand that they are every bit as powerful and potentially dangerous as any drug prescribed by a doctor, that they can interact with supplements and medications and that they aren't a cure all.

I challenge you to show me how the "I have an oil for that" mentality is any better than a doctor giving you a new pill every little thing. Doctors have a vested interest in the drug companies, so yes they overprescribe. The two big MLM's are doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING. They over prescribe essential oils for EVERYTHING (without medical training, I might add) because the more oils you use the more money they make selling you oils. PERIOD.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-22122219883024834942015-05-30T08:48:00.001-04:002015-05-30T08:48:58.856-04:00Perfumes and More.................I have been ordering some pricier essential oils and absolutes that I LOVE so I can make some lovely perfumes. I have been inspired by L'Occitane Roses and Reines perfume-which is fabulous, by the way. There are several types of roses that are all glorious on their own, but even more so when blended. I have even purchased some little tins and twist up tubes so I can incorporate my floral waxes into some solid perfumes.

Yesterday I got some Bulgarian rose absolute, Turkish rose otto and a very small vial of steam distilled Rose alba (white rose). I already have some Bulgarian rose otto, Rosa rugosa, a wee bit of Rose gallica and plenty of Rose centifolia absolute, not to mention the heavenly Bulgarian rose wax.

I also have 3 jasmine absolutes and 2 jasmine waxes, mimosa wax, tuberose wax and some French Neroli and my stash of <strike>Orange</strike> Blossom absolute. It's time to make some basic perfumes with real therapeutic value! Is there anything better for a woman's morale than smelling like a Queen?

The biggest problem for me at this point is how I am going to blend the roses and what am I going to name them? I believe in mixing the steam distilled oils with the corresponding absolutes (like the neroli and the Bulgarian roses) but I have several options with my roses. Maybe a blend of just the steam distilled roses? Plus a blend of the Bulgarian roses. Who knows?

I have also started some blends for Eau de Colognes for my perfumery store, one is rose based and I think it's my favorite. I blended it with lemon and lemon leaf and it's fantastic! Now I need to blend it into some alcohol and see how it turns out! I did a classic Orange blossom blend, an herbal one and a jasmine based blend. the herbal blend will lean more masculine but I'm not quite happy with it yet so it needs some tweaking but it is loaded with my new mouth watering steam distilled Lime oil. Pretty nice!

And best of all I have a Floral Chypre that I have fallen so deeply in love over I am naming it Glory. It will be the premier eau de parfum for my perfume store.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-1703483667571020422015-05-17T08:13:00.001-04:002015-05-17T08:13:22.692-04:00Spring is HereYes, finally it's here though it seems more like Summer in central KY these days. We generally go straight from Winter to Summer anyway but this year it was a sharp and sudden change. In the middle of March we had nearly 2 feet of snow on the ground. Fast forward 3 weeks and it's in the 80's. Now the mad dash to get gardening done and gather wild materials as they become available. I have started infusing some honeysuckle flowers in fractionated coconut oil. This will take a lot of flowers and probably a month to finish. I have to work around the rain. Also patiently waiting for the elders to bloom so I can distill my annual supply of elder flower water.

I have a couple of posts planned when I have more time.

The infamous Young Living post from 2 years ago is still going strong. I recently discovered in one of safety groups that it has been quoted by other websites and actually had some folks thanking me when they found out it was me. They said it got them to question the company propaganda. That is so gratifying to me. I am always happy when anyone decides to take control of their own health with natural remedies, but we lose that control when we don't do our own research so we can make truly informed decisions!

More to come later.

From Gretchen and Tom at Adirondack Aromatherapy we have a Venus Aromatherapy Spray, a Mother of Pearl Crystal Gem Soap, 5ml of the Mother of Pearl essential oil blend, a clay aromatherapy diffuser and a jumbo sized Pink Himalayan Salt. A $35 value.

Gretchen is a brilliant aromatherapist and creates some really beautiful blends and the Mother of Pearl is one of my personal favorites. It's a blend of Amber, Jasmine, Clary Sage and Ylang Ylang. It's soft floral and VERY relaxing. You could add some of this blend to the clay diffuser or the Himalayan Salt and tuck it into your closet or a drawer so your clothes will take on the scent. How lovely would it be to go to sleep with this fragrance on your pajamas!

Her husband Tom is a master Artisan soap maker and creates these beautiful gem soaps to compliment Gretchen's blends. If you live near Glens Falls, NY you should go over to the Shirt Factory and visit their store. They're on the first floor and you can register to win the giveaway while you're there.

This year I've decided to focus on herbal products so I have decided to give away two of my herbal creams and two tea blends along with a tea diffuser ball (not pictured).

For the creams I chose my best selling Cold Cream made from a base of olive oil and sweet almond oil infused with chamomile flowers. This cream smells sweet and removes makeup as well as any store bought stuff, only mine doesn't contain any irritating artificial fragrance.

The Calendula Cream is made with Calendula infused olive oil and Calendula hydrosol that I distilled myself. I also added olive derived squalene to boost moisturizing abilities. This cream is a such a relief for dry and inflamed skin and makes a rich , nourishing night cream.

The Radiance Tea blend is made with Red Clover blossoms (tastes great and is so good for your skin), Nettles (very nutritious) and Horsetail Herb (high in silica) and is a generous two ounce bag. The RefreshMint tea is my favorite blend of Spearmint and peppermint. Naturally sweet and refreshing!

To enter just leave a comment here on this blog, on Gretchen's blog here or enter in person at the ADKaromatherapy shop in Glens Falls. The winner will be chosen on Mother's Day and the packages will ship the next day.
We'll be shaking it up a bit this year......Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-59105771525632638462015-04-18T11:56:00.001-04:002015-04-18T11:56:59.723-04:00Sensitization and Essential Oil Safety and YOUR SOULI know many Young Living and DoTerra reps look at my blog often, mostly because they hate me for going against what their company says. Both companies have been issued warning letters from the FDA and DoTerra, at least, has been coming down on reps passing around bad information.

Some of you may be familiar with the story of the young woman, who is currently hospitalized from an apparent sensitization from using a safely diluted blend from Young Living. Her basic background is this: She was introduced to essential oils through a YL rep and used according to instructions from this rep for many years. This recommended usage included all kinds of internal usage and using undiluted oils topically because she was lead to believe it was safe. A few months ago she started to get exposed to information outside of the company and realized she was NOT using essential oils safely. So she learned how to be safe with the oils and was using them properly-for a few months. Then she decided to rub a drop of a PROPERLY DILUTED blend on her stomach for a stomach ache and all Hell broke loose. She was admitted into the hospital with anaphylaxis. She was told if she had waited much longer she would have died, her throat had nearly swollen shut by the time she got there. SO now she is lying in a hospital bed covered in welts and rashes from head to toe, away from her husband and children, getting regular shots of steroids to keep her condition under control. She is not yet sure if it's a sensitization or if this bottle of oil was somehow contaminated, possibly by plants in a field near where these plants were grown.

She THOUGHT she had escaped any possibility of this ever happening because she had begun to use safely. But her body had already had massive exposure and the damage had already been done. All it took was a minute amount to set this off. The tipping point had been reached. She MAY recover in time, and by that I mean YEARS, but most likely she will never be able to use essential oils again. Or, in the very least, never be able to use certain oils again. She may never be able to use THE PLANTS again. She decided to make her story public and many of us have shared via social media with her permission. She was being attacked by so many YL reps that she had to make her facebook page private to avoid the abuse. And now the company YOUNG LIVING is threatening her with legal action. SHE'S STILL IN THE HOSPITAL FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE!

All along, I have said that I have no problem with anyone who chooses to use Young Living oils as long as they use them safely. Now I want to issue a challenge to all my Christian brothers and sisters who are still affiliated with this demonic company. LOOK at the way the company handles Gary Young, LOOK at how they treat any dissenters who don't tow the company line and research how cults operate. Pray HARD for discernment! Do you love Jesus Christ or do you love Gary Young? Do you not see that he is being elevated ABOVE the Lord? Do you REALLY want to risk your soul for a quick buck? He uses the name of God and uses the Bible to sell oils while flying in the face of God and the Bible by his words and actions. Healing comes from God alone, plants are the vehicle, Gary Young is JUST A MAN. This is NOT a Christian company! Just because he throws around the name of God does NOT make him a Christian. WORDS mean nothing-ACTIONS are everythingJackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-4192770963265840972015-03-16T10:57:00.001-04:002015-03-16T10:57:26.024-04:00So Many Ideas yet So Little TimeI am really TRYING not to spend my whole vacation working but as usual my brain is about to burst from creativity. I have been working on getting orders caught up. I have been BUSY! I would love to get some tea blends done, some herbal blends for making infused oils and extracts and infuse some finished herbal oils. But I also want to go to the casino for a day and spend as much time as I can with my daughter while she's home. I haven't seen her in a whole month and she hasn't been "home" since Christmas break. And probably won't be home again until the Spring semester is over. That's only about 6 weeks but that's darn near an eternity in Mommy time. then she'll spend her last Summer at home :(

Infused oils that I have planned in the fairly near future:

A hair treatment blend that combines traditional western herbs and herbs from the Ayurvedic tradition. Just massage a few drops into your scalp every day and it makes your hair healthier and fuller.

An infused oil with the traditional Queen of Hungary blend of herbs. I can't wait to use this on my middle aged skin.

A cold infused Lavender herbal oil. What a fantastic massage oil that will make for stress, insomnia.....

An oil based liniment with eucalyptus, peppermint and rosemary. I hope to have this done in time for gardening season!

How about Peppermint and Lavender for tension headaches?

Don't even get me started on tea blends! I will say, we've been enjoying some mint tea at my house made with spearmint and peppermint. The proportions are my secret.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-14817295089732898902015-03-07T06:57:00.000-05:002015-03-07T06:57:04.835-05:00Infused Herbal OilsSince I have made SO many friends in the Young Living and Doterra community (NOT), I hope they are continuing to monitor my blog and read other informative posts like this one. I am all about teaching and education because it really is very easy to make your own natural remedies for the home. Not for more serious conditions-seriously if you have cancer get your butt to a DOCTOR! But if you just have a cold going to the doctor is a waste of time. they really can't do anything for you unless you have a secondary bacterial infection that needs to be treated.

Now as far as our "friends" over at Young Living and DoTerra, there are pros and cons. I am very happy to see people interested in essential oils and trying to take control of their own health. BUT essential oils have their limits. There is NOT an oil for everything and essential oils are NOT interchangeable with the herb. Besides, only about 5% of plants contain essential oils so why would you cut yourself off from 95% of the healing botanicals available to you? This makes absolutely no sense to me. One other thing you should consider is the enormous amount of plant material it takes to make a tiny bit of essential oil. It takes 15 TONS of rose petals to make one POUND of rose oil. That's on the extreme end but you get the idea. Then the rose oil is VERY expensive and if you don't store it properly you run the risk of the oil oxidizing and losing potency. And the rape of all this plant material can't be good for the environment.

With all that said, I wish more people would learn how to make infused herbal oils. I'm not going to talk about how to do them but I am going to talk about the benefits and you can look up how to make them on the internet. Proceed with caution though-I have seen many people post videos on the internet about making infused oils calling them essential oils. These are 2 completely different things.

Here some advantages to making your own oils:
-There are many healing plants that don't have essential oil like comfrey, plantain, marshmallow, dandelion and nettles.
-You can infuse them in the vegetable oil of your choice, or even lard or animal fat to add to the healing power.
-You will get ALL of the plant constituents in your oil, not just the essential oil
-You can grow many of your own aromatic and non-aromatic plants to make your infused oils
-You can use your infused oils for massage oils, bath oils, as a base for your own creams or salves
-You can still add a little essential oil to your oil to boost healing power
-Using the herb is cheaper than using the essential oil
-It takes less plant material to make an infused herbal oil
-You can capture more elusive scents in an infused oil with some work-think honeysuckle and lilac
-You will get satisfaction you can't imagine from making your own infused herbal oils
-Making them yourself is way cheaper than buying them!
-Many plants can be gathered from the wild or even your own yard

There are some infused oils that I have going at all times for use in my business. I ALWAYS have a batch of chamomile infusing in olive oil and almond oil to use to make my cold cream-my best seller BTW. And I always have dried comfrey leaf and lavender flowers infusing in olive oil to make my Rescue cream. The chamomile oil I make in half gallons and as soon as I strain one batch I start a new one so as soon as I run out I have more ready to go.

In fact, I was inspired to create my cold cream after I made my first batch of chamomile infused oil. It smelled so sweet that I had to make something special with it and in time my cold cream was born. This was something quite accidental that now has a very large and loyal following!

So I challenge all essential oil devotees to try to expand your horizons and your healing arsenal! Give it a try and I promise, you'll never look back. I love essential oils but I also firmly believe it is NOT healthy to use them for EVERYTHING and I can't imagine not having true herbal remedies in my home.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-9659684995864312982015-02-21T07:42:00.003-05:002015-02-21T07:42:58.110-05:00Absolutely Terrifying!I saw an innocent post on a Facebook page about essential oils which, of course set off a storm of comments about people using them internally. Including one mother giving her BABY anise seed essential oil in water in a bottle for colic. Again, WATER DOES NOT DILUTE ESSENTIAL OIL. Also, for those who choose not to educate themselves, anise is an estrogenic oil so I don't even want to think what this woman is doing to her child's body ESPECIALLY if this child is a male.

These people would be infuriated if they found out a pharmaceutical company was conducting unsupervised human trials of a drug, yet this is EXACTLY what they are doing with essential oils.
IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME! Except in this case they are using their defenseless children and pets as test subjects.

THINK ABOUT THAT!Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-84309126960172012792015-02-06T17:14:00.000-05:002015-02-06T17:14:52.305-05:00Why I Will NEVER Use Young Living Essential Oils Part IIIt has been nearly 2 years since I wrote the original post (It's from March 2013 if you haven't had the pleasure yet). Quite frankly, it had mixed reactions from many people thanking me for stating my opinion and sharing my experiences to "anonymous" Young Living reps spitting up blood and throwing out every nonsensical, scripted "rebuttable" they could think of. And for those of you who want to argue that there aren't any Young Living sales reps out there giving unsafe advice I want you to google Young Living essential oils-I promise you won't have any trouble finding them.

Also to all of you out there who want to argue that you have been using them internally for years with no adverse reactions: You can have severe kidney and liver damage without showing any symptoms. Once you know you have a problem the damage will already have been done.

Back to the "French Method" of aromatherapy: French DOCTORS occasionally prescribe essential oils for internal use for short term, acute infections. The medicine is compounded by a LICENSED PHARMACIST and the usual route of administration is rectally.

I am seeing a severe increase of misinformation going out these days. The last gasp of a dying empire after the FDA issued warning letters to the 2 big MLM's about making medical claims.

I will not even try to argue the non-sense, made up bullshit put out by the 2 said MLM's about "therapeutic-grade", "seed to seal" and the other clever marketing ploys that the gullible choose to believe. I understand there are those of you out there who use DoTerra or Young Living just because you love the oils, and that you do your due diligence when it comes to safety. Kudos to you! I actually feel bad for you because you are in the company of so many others that are uneducated and dangerous, so your good name will be dragged down into the mud by them.

My fellow Christians who have been sucked in by the deceptive marketing at Young Living and who have elevated Gary Young to the heights of God.............shame on you. Read commandment #1 very carefully and think about it for awhile. If your "company" only wants you to read THEIR books and not outside information-that's called a cult and you need to wake up. This wouldn't be the first time the devil has been prowling around with flock dressed in sheep's clothing. THINK ABOUT IT!

As for all the "anonymous" reps posting, just keep on doing what you're doing. You're not fooling anybody with any sense. I have put my opinions out there along with a whole lot of scientific FACTS. If that doesn't change your mind, then nothing will. You believe what you CHOOSE to believe instead of facts. Go ahead and drink all the oils you want. Injury reports keep pouring in and those of us on the side of safety will be shown to be truthful. Those of you chugging essential oils day and night will be hooked to machines to keep you alive, wondering why you didn't listen when you had the chance.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-69931906461179411502015-01-31T15:52:00.001-05:002015-01-31T15:52:24.325-05:00Fighting Flu with HerbsThis is what I have been working with lately-anti-viral and antibiotic herbs. My main reason is because of my Dad-I want to boost his immunity after his chemo treatments are over so his body will be strong enough to keep fighting. But this is also timely since the flu season has been so bad and the CDC guessed wrong on the flu vaccine for this year.

I have been getting very disturbing emails from customers interested in protecting their kids with essential oils, most wanting to run advice by me that they had received from MLM reps. But essential oils are metabolized very quickly by the body and really need to come into direct with the germs to kill them. The best way ALWAYS to fight infection is to keep your natural immunity strong so your body can defend against invaders on its own.

Echinacea is a popular herb but it's just never used properly, and the species commonly available is the least effective. I like boneset. Used at the first signs of infection it can short circuit the infection and stop it from taking hold. The dried herb is easily available and you can probably find it growing wild in fields and near streams. I really recommend making it into an alcohol based extract because it's really bitter!

It's very easy to identify. As you can see the stem looks like it's perforating the leaf, which is where the latin name Eupatorium perfoliatum comes from. It can be found in the eastern 2/3 of the United States. This is a very important herb and I really recommend getting some and preparing your remedies ahead of time so they're ready when you need them.

Even better is to keep the immune system strong in the first place. For that I recommend astragalus root. It's considered an adaptogen and is sometimes called "young man's ginseng". it has no known toxicity in any dose that I have ever seen and builds up the immune system by building strong bone marrow and it also tones the lungs and kidneys. It's best used as a preventative and should probably not be used during an active infection. You can buy it by the pound (organic and kosher certified) from Mountain Rose Herbs for $16/lb , which should last quite a while. I like to buy the sliced roots-they look like tongue depressors at the doctor's office. This is a really versatile herb, and pleasant tasting and can be used in teas, extracts or you can toss a few slices into stews and broth and let them simmer and remove them before serving.

Another very popular herb against the influenza virus is the black elderberry. Israeli scientists have done numerous studies that prove elderberries can prevent flu or, at least, shorten the duration and lessen the severity of the infection. They are also very hard to come by this time of year. People in the know usually buy them up so they can make syrups, jellies, extracts, etc to have on hand for flu prevention, and just for pleasure (they taste fantastic). If you have a health food store in your area you may be able to find organic elderberry juice. You can also find elderberry preparations like Sambucol in most pharmacies, drug stores, WalMart and health food stores.

Two really interesting books that I HIGHLY recommend are HERBAL ANTIVIRALS and HERBAL ANTIBIOTICS by Stephen Harrod Buhner. They get a little technical but have loads of really useful information and recipes for preparations you can use with herbs during various stages of infection.

I also recommend HERBAL HEALING FOR CHILDREN and 475 HERBAL AND AROMATHERAPY RECIPES by Demetria Clark. Rosemary Gladstar has lots of books that are a joy to read and all of these books are available in book form and for kindle on amazon.com.

The last comment on the YL post has pushed me over the edge. Not because my beliefs are threatened but because I am intelligent. I use the brain the good Lord gave me and I have enough "common" sense read between the lines of a clever bullshit marketing ploy. AND I fear that Gary Young's ego will swallow up the entire western hemisphere of planet Earth.

This post is absolutely intended to shock you! I hope to shock you into THINKING. Are so many people really so STUPID and GULLIBLE that a company can brainwash you this way?

Let's look at the so-called "seed to seal" guarantee and how Young Living "has" the people and the farms to produce their oils. Think this is something special that no one else has? Well, here is the no bullshit translation for you-They work closely with trusted suppliers and have their oils tested for purity. THAT'S IT! Just like any other reputable supplier of essential oils.

As for the 'anonymous" YL rep who last posted who truly believes the idiot farmers in France didn't know what true lavender was anymore until Gary Young stepped in and helped them............What? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS???????????? This is yet another disturbing peek into the psyche of a delusional man, who believes he is some kind of savior building himself up to keep his cult members in awe of awesomeness. PUT THE KOOL AID DOWN!!!!!!! Read a book written by someone else besides Gary Young.

Again, if you use these oils because you truly like them-fine. But dear GOD don't buy into the bullshit that goes along with the oils.

I can't ever seem to say this enough. We live in the age of the internet. Never before in human history has so much information been so readily available for so many people so if you just take someone's word for anything without, at least googling it to get more information............
Stupidity is a CHOICE in the 21st century, my friends. I don't care how many blogs and websites you run across from these YL reps who spout this shit, you are also going to run across plenty of sites from people like me warning you against it. If you choose to ignore it, you do so at your own peril. While part of me says if you want to drink essential oils and kill yourself-go for it. Natural selection in action, and at this rate it may be time to thin the herd a bit. But don't do this to your defenseless pets and children.

And if you want to debate me at least have balls enough to post under your real name. And use a logical argument and not the scripted bullshit response from your MLM. Before you post ask yourself a couple of questions:
1) Does this have anything to do with the subject at hand?
2) Does this even make any sense or do I sound like a lunatic living in my own special little universe?
3) Do I have a good point here or do I just sound like a toddler having a temper tantrum?
4) If I'm so passionate about what I believe why can't I reveal my true identity?
5) Do I fear giving out my name because I know I'm an idiot?
6) What if Gary Young ISN'T God???????????????

Seriously, if you can't tell I'm frustrated by how stupid my fellow Americans have allowed themselves to become. BTW this will help you in EVERY aspect of your life, not just buying essential oils.Jackiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07019015501791362535noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8184084503724352976.post-7061850103560188422014-12-22T12:31:00.002-05:002014-12-22T12:31:24.381-05:00It's been a While! It has been so long since I have posted! Quite frankly I have still been quite busy with YL post from almost 2 years ago. Anyone who follows me at all knows I am about education and safety, especially when it comes to herbs and essential oils and I tend to step on some toes!

I have been quite busy with new products and even new stores! I will update my links here so you can find my soon-to-be revamped perfume store. I am going to be offering alcohol based, all natural perfumes. Some will be oldies that I have carried for years (as oil-based perfumes) and some will be very high end rare and hard to find absolutes, floral waxes and even some concretes. I'm really excited about this! I love alcohol based perfumes, as I'm sure many of you do, so it's great to be able to offer "real" perfumes in a natural format. I already have a few new perfumes on the go, in the basement, aging and millions of ideas for new ones swirling in my always active brain.

What's cooking in the basement, you ask? A few perfumes based on Indian Attars-a base of pure Mysore Sandalwood with floral/herbal oils and absolutes. Champaca, Rose, Davana, Jasmine Sambac...............all lovely already so I can't wait to see how rich they are after a month or so.

I already have a lovely Rose perfume and a Lavender perfume, both started with an alcohol infusion of botanicals with steam distilled oils and absolutes added. I want to make a lovely little perfume for bedtime with rose, lavender, geranium, roman chamomile and such (could also be used during the day for frazzled nerves). I hope to create a masterpiece of deep, dark scent (think Opium) that the whole world will HAVE to have..............Already thinking tolu balsam, Balsam Peru, Amber, Patchouli (of course!), Ambrette Seed, Vanilla, Jasmine Grandiflorum...........we'll see where it goes when I have more time to play!

I have started making some all natural soy wax tartes for wax burners, which I will be listing very soon in my stores.

I have a .com address now too with links to my retail sites! Check out Glorybeherbals.com.

I had a really great year with my hydrosols in 2014. My elderflower water and Yarrow flower water were better than ever. I'm not sure if it was exceptional material, I'm just getting better at it or a combination of both. I hope to have more Clary Sage in 2015. Last winter killed my old plants so I had to plant new ones and they weren't very big. My stock was limited and has sold out.

I also lost my St. John's plants too and had to replant. Not sure if it made it or not so I will have to wait until Spring to see what happens.
I had a cute idea for a sale but you have to subscribe to be in on it.

Email me at blessedherbal@yahoo.com and put "subscribe" in the subject line. If you haven't looked at it, you should, and read through the comments. YL reps assuming I work for DoTerra-why I don't know because I also lumped them into the post. And, of course, people putting words in my mouth. For those of you who may be new to my blog, I say exactly what I mean so if you put more into it than I have said, it says a lot about you-not me. For those of you who know me you may find it somewhat entertaining, or you may just want to beat your head against the wall. I swear, people need to learn to LISTEN and READ the words that are THERE!

Here's the short-cut!
