Happy Labor Day

For all of us who actually EARN a living-Happy Labor Day. Since my husband had knee surgery Wednesday we have no plans but I actually got the weekend off from work. I will be making good use of my time. I hadn't really made much use of my herbs this year since the economy is bad and sales are sporadic but I was feeling inspired last night and actually gathered some things and started a medicated oil. Well, more inspiration tonight. I drained my medicated herbs and added a whole bunch more herbs from my stash and This is probably going to be the most beautiful "medicated" oil I've ever made. I set out to make something soothing and healing for the skin and it will be. It will smell good too. My oil has witch hazel leaf, roses, chamomile, calendula, chickweed, comfrey leaf, all-heal, elder flowers, echinacea leaf and flower, yarrow flowers, marshmallow leaf and root, licorice root, siberian ginseng root, lemon peel, a sprig of fresh rosemary in flower, and slippery elm bark. Tomorrow I will strain it again and infuse another round of lavender flowers and rose petals. I want it to smell great without having to add essential oils but I will add a touch of lavender oil if necessary. By tomorrow night or Monday I will add some shea butter and beeswax and make a nice balm that I will massage all over my dry and neglected skin. I will offer this up in my stores-even if I don't sell any I am having a blast doing it for the first time since Spring.

I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend!
